Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)

A urinary tract infection occurs when bacterial infection affects any component of the urinary tract. The urinary tract consists of the kidneys, ureter and the bladder.

Generally, the bladder is affected during a UTI. In more serious cases, the kidneys may be affected, leading to further complications. Common symptoms of UTI include:
o Painful or difficult urination
o Pain in the lower abdomen or lower back area
o Urgent need to pee
o Blood in the urine
o Nausea or vomiting
o Fever and chills
It is advisable to see a doctor early to avoid further complications when left untreated.
